Both Romelu Lukaku and Chritain Benteke made sure their stock rose for the upcoming international break as they were in imperial form on Friday night. Damien Delaney conceeded a free kick at the edgeof the boxfor a high lounge at Phil Jagielka ten minutes before the interval. Lukaku's top form continued against Palace scoring the resultant free-kick to take his league tally to five for the season.

Benteke responded in sublime fashion heading in early in the second half. Gareth Barry and Joe Ledley went close late on in the match but the teams cancelled out each other. Bolasie proved a thorn in the flesh of his former side tormenting them for most part of the evening. Close to the end of the game, Lukaku produce an excellent pass for Seamus Coleman that was ultimately squandered over the bar by the Welshman.
