The affair between Rangers and Barton has finally come to an end. The Scottish powerhouse have terminated the 34-year-old former Manchester City and Newcastle United midfielder's contract with immediate effect.

Barton only returned to training with Rangers last week after a club suspension against him was lifted. The mid-fielder's reign with Glasgow has been cut short as he finished negotiating severance fees with the club.
