Questions had previously been raised over Zidane’s reliance on Kroos, with the Frenchman saying he was not concerned about him suffering from burnout. “I’m not worried at all because Toni, even after only one day of rest, is already ready to play in the next game,” Zidane affirmed.
Kroos could be out for the rest of 2016 having just signed a new six-year deal last month. The injury could also see him miss important clashes in the upcoming derby with city rivals Atletico Madrid and the El Clasico with Barcelona next month likewise Madrid’s FIFA Club World Cup.
Croatian pair of Luka Modric and Mateo Kovacic are available for selection but Casemiro remains out since breaking his leg against Espanyol in September.
