CHAMPIONS LEAGUE wrap-up- Tuesday

Liecester City 1-0 Copenhagen

Leicester City maintained their 100 per cent Champions League record in the champions league this season with a victory over Copenhagen. Vardy failed to break his goal drought when a chance fell to him before Riyad Mahrez sent the Kings Power Stadium into frenzy. Vardy's deep cross from the left found Slimani at the far post and he nodded back inside for Mahrez, who shot the ball beyond Olsen from just outside the six-yard box. Copenhagen threatened twice thrugh Andreas Cornelius but failed to beat Schmeichel on both occasions. Slimani and Leicester's celebration was cut short his initial effort from Marc Albrighton’s cross kept out by a combination of Olsen and the woodwork although replays confirmed the ball had crossed the line. Schmeichel thena made a number of saves to preserve the Foxes' lead for a three straight clean sheets and a deserved win.

Real Madrid 5-1 Legia Warsaw

Real were in no mood for a welcome after a pre-match brawl as they breezed past their visitors. Wasrsaw went close to finding an opener early in the game despite Real dominating possession as Thibault Moulin forced Keylor Navas into action and Odidja-Ofoe struck the woodwork after Guilherme’s cut-back. However in the 6th minute Bale struck a fine finish just inside the box after dribbling towards goal for the opener. A second swiftly followed when Marcelo’s 20-yard effort took a huge deflection off Jodlowiec on its way into net. Radovic pulled one back for the visitors coolly slotting in a spot-kick after being felled by Danilo in the box. Madrid restored their two-goal advantage when the lively Ronaldo collected low cross from Danilo and teed up Asensio, who found the bottom-right corner from the edge of the area.
The host didn't rest on their laurels though as the introduction of Morata and Vazquez proved vital. The former's chipped pass into the right side of the area was converted by the latter and Morata found the net with a fine finish off a Ronaldo pass.

Lyon 0-1 Juventus

Both Buffon and Cuadrado were in a class of their own after a masterclass performance away from home against Lyon. Buffon who made his teams pay dearly after committing errors in his previous two games for club and country was at his best at the Parc O. The 38-year-old spurned Alexandre Lacazette from the penalty spot before producing a reflex save of the highest quality to keep Nabil Fekir’s deflected strike out.
Mario Lemina was sent off shortly after that stop to tilt the balance of play firmly in the hosts’ favour, but again Buffon stood in their way. Substitute Cuadrado completed the smash and grab in style, slamming home a mesmeric goal worthy of following his captain’s fine earlier example.
Victory keeps Massimiliano Allegri’s side top of Group H and a win over Lyon at their fortress Juventus Stadium next time out will secure progression to the last 16.

Bayer Leverkusen 0-0 Tottenham

Goalkeepers seem to be in a particularly fine form on Tuesday after another classic performance from France No.1 Hugo Lloris in Germany at the Bayarena. Son Heung-min, making his first appearance against his old club, set up Vincent Janssen for a first-half tap-in after ten minutes that was ruled out for offside, but it was Spurs who looked the more threatening in a scrappy opening half. Roger Schmidt’s side came to life after the break only to be thwarted by the brilliance of Lloris, with the skipper denying Charles Aranguiz and Admir Mehmedi either side of a stunning reaction stop to keep Hernandez’s effort from squirming in off a Bender's cross. Lloris parried away his low Mehmedi drive from 20 yards. Omer Toprak came close to finding a winner after heading straight at Lloris in the dying moments, but Leverkusen were forced to settle for a third draw in as many group games, with Tottenham a point above them in second place behind Monaco.

Sporting CP 1-2 Borussia Dortmund

Aubameyang gave Tuchel's side a ninth-minute lead when he lobbed Rui Patricio after beating Ruben Semedo to a Gotze pass. Weigl finished into the bottom left-hand corner from 25 yards after a moment of hesitation from Semedo for a two gaol lead before the break. Bruno Cesar fired home a free kick inside the box after a shaky and uncomfortable Bartra back pass forced Burki to handle the ball for an indirect free-kick- Tuchel replaced him with Lukasz Piszczek. Both Matthias Ginter and full-back Passlack sustained injuries late on as Tuchel's men held and before that, Pulisic could have added gloss to the scoreline when he rifled a dipping strike against the Sporting crossbar.
