Wednesday Champions League night was anything but disappointment as a host of big teams turned up for the party.
Athletico Madrid 1-0 Bayern Munich
Carrasco's exquisite 35th-minute finish was what separated the two sides at the Vincente Calderon. Ancelotti's winning run was brought to a halt by a tenacious Rojiblancos. Both teams had several chances to score but ultimately fell short. The best chance of the game fell to Griezmann crashing his spot-kick against the upright after Arturo Vidal fell Filipe Luis in the box. Athletico Madrid their unbeaten run at home with 26 wins in 31 European games.

Celtic 3-3 Manchester City
Celtic responded well to their 7-0 hammering at the hands of Barcelona on Matchday 1 in a six-goal thriller. Celtic opened scoring through Dembele early in the game before Fernandinho equalised. Sterling scored an own goal of a Tierney shot but atoned for his mistake with a fine strike to level scores. Dembele then got is brace to give Celtic a third time lead in the match. Nolito wasn't having any of it though as he netted a rebound from an Aguero shot to share the spoils. Celtic are the first team to take a point off City this season.
Napoli 4-2 Benfica
Napoli defeated Benfica comfortably at home to consolidate their lead at the top of the table. Maurizio Sarri’s side scored three goals in the space of seven minutes early in the second half. Hamsik gave Napoli the lead in the 20th minute heading home a Faouzi Ghoulam corner before Mertens curled home a sensational free-kick early in the second half. Milik then added the third from the penalty spot after Callejon was brought down and Mertens hit his second of the game from close range. Benfica had the consolation through Gonacalo Guedes and substitute Eduardo Salvio. Napoli remains unbeaten in 11 games while Benfica's loss was their first of the season.
Borussia Monchengladbach 1-2 Barcelona
Barcelona came from behind to secure a 1-2 victory over 'Gladbach at Borussia-Park in Germany. Barca were shocked when Thorgan Hazard gave the hosts the lead on 34 minutes from a perfectly executed counterattack in the first half against the run of play. Turan gave the visitors respite in the second half scoring from a Neymar through ball. Pique then blasted home the winner from a rebound after Sommer fumbled a Suarez shot.
Ludogorets 1-3 Paris Saint-Germain
PSG also came from behind to get all three points against Ludogotets. Set-piece goals seemed to be the order of the day as the underdogs took a 15 minute lead through full-back Natanael’s free-kick. Matuidi equalised for Unai Emery's men shortly before the break before a brace from Cavani settled matters.
Arsenal 2-0 Basel
Theo Walcott turned hero as he produced two fine first half strikes to win the game for Arsenal. The striker headed home a Sanchez cross. Again, Walcott finished off the post after a one-two pass exchange with Sanchez in the 26th minutes. Goalkeeper, Vaclik proved the stumbling block as he denied both Sanchez and Ozil in one-on-one situations as Arsenal failed to add to their first half goals. The Gunners remain unbeaten in their last eight matches.
