BAYERN and Athletico win

Athletico secured a precious 1-0 victory over PSV in Holland in a difficult encounter. Saul Niguez scored the only goal of the game in the 43rd minute as last year's finalists secured all 3 points away from home making a perfect start to th e tournament.

Atletico although have goalkeeper Jan Oblak to thank after saving Andres Guardado's penalty.

PSV also had an early goal disallowed as the visitors escaped losing the points in a whimper.

Bayern thrashed newcomers FC Rostov 5-0 to leave a bad taste in the mouth. A brace from German youngster Joshua Kimmich, combined with goals from Robert Lewandowski, Thomas Muller and Juan Bernat was all that was required in a routine win.

The result means Ancelotti has won all five matches he has managed at Bayern and has recorded an astonishing 20 goals without conceding. He also becomes the first coach to win a Champions League match with seven different clubs.
