OLYMPICS: ARGENTINA crash out
The Argentina's U-23 team has crashed out of the ongoing Rio Olympics after being held to a 1-1 draw by Honduras on Wednesday.
They went behind to Anthony Lozano’s goal and Mauricio Martinez’s injury-time equaliser was not enough to see them climb above Honduras in Group D.
Goalkeeper Geronimo Rulli saved Bryan Acosta’s first-half penalty and Angel Correa turned the spot-kick onto the post early in the second half.
Furthermore, Lozano scored the second penalty of the game after being awarded to give his team the lead. Argentina equalised through a Martinez’s deflected which was ultimately not enough for progression. The 2004 and 2008 Gold medal winners follow group winners Portugal, who stuck to the top spot with a 1-1 draw with Algeria.
