EPL: PEP passes first City test
McNair's own goal gives Pep some respite as Manchester City got one over Sunderland in a tense match that was action packed. Aguero gave the Citizens an early lead from the penalty spot after Sterling was brought down in the box in a subdued performance from the Argentine, Defoe then equalized late on after a million dollars assist from the introduced Januzaj before a nightmare McNair debut sealed the triumph as he scored an unmitigated own goal.
Iheanacho could have made the result safer but skied a five-yard effort with the goal at his mercy. City's back line looked shaky throughout the game as they failed to grasp unto Pep's philosophy. Moyes loses his first EPL match as Sunderland's boss.
