SANE- The real deal

Acquired for a huge sum of £46.5m –a high fee for a teenager, you would say- in the summer
from Shalke 04. With the speed of his father and the fine muscle fibres of his mother, the German is a talent to behold. Guardiola used the winger sparingly at the start of the season due to the adaptation to his new environment that threatened to take forever. He has since gone on to be an integral part of the Catalan’s three-man attack which has coincided with the club’s renaissance.

In a fantastic form, the Citizens have failed to lose a game since the 4-0 loss to Everton on the 15th of January, Sane has since taken centre-stage forming an almost telepathic understanding with Silva and the front duo of Sterling and Jesus. Young and ebullient, the 21-year old German has found a new lease of life in the City. Having already made thirteen appearances in the league this season with two goals and an assist to his credit, he has been a mainstay in the team since the club’s 3-0 win over Palace. He adds dynamism to the team with pace the best of his assets, good at running at defenders especially in a one vs one situation, he epitomises wing-play as evident in the Manchester Derby earlier in the season.

With bags of tricks in his Arsenal and light years ahead of him, he could be unplayable on his day as his talent is evident for all to see and with pace to burn and gradual understanding of the demands of Guardiola’s tactics, he is set to make his name on the biggest stage. The former Schalke 04 man could play across the front trio behind the main striker as an utility player which makes him even more indispensable although dislodging Kevin De Bruyne and Silva from the playmaking role could be a tough ask. He adds another dimension to the frontline as Guardiola is set for the development of another set of youngsters to turn into World Class players. Although Brazilian wonder kid Jesus have been on the FrontPages lately due to his goals, the fact remains that Sane has been the cog the City machine with his trickery.

According to Squawka, he has an average pass accuracy of 77% and has won 40% of his duels likewise creating total of 14 chances for his team-mates despite spending 752 minutes on the pitch this season. The Etihad outfit have been scintillating to watch of late thanks in part to the presence of the youngster. Tipped for stardom, Sane could be the main man for City as they bid to return to the pinnacle of English football after a patchy run of form despite placing second on the league table especially with the recent injury of Gabriel Jesus. With a lot of things to learn and the years ahead of him, he could turn into a real weapon moulded under Guardiola’s tutelage.

If Klopp had listened to his fellow coach back then, he might be partnering Dembele at Dortmund or better still tormenting the Premier League with Sadio Mane by his side.  Whichever way, the future looks bright for the German.
