MARADONA slams Ronaldo, blasts Laurentis

Regarded as the best player to have graced a football pitch, Maradona has criticised Ronaldo for
not being in top form and hopes he isn't yet when Madrid face his former side Napoli in the Champions League in the round of 16 tie. Despite claiming the Champions League, Euro 2016 and a fourth Ballon d’Or gong, Maradona in still not convinced the Superstar is at his best.

Diego Maradona
Maradona told reporters: "I want [Madrid-Napoli] to be played today because Ronaldo is not at his best. However, by February I think he'll be in top condition, as will his teammates."  Ronaldo has 23 goals in 22 appearances for club and country this season.

The Argentine also expressed his bitterness towards Napoli President for allowing Higuain to leave for rivals Juventus in the summer.

"I said last season that if Higuain scores 36 goals, it's a miracle and de Laurentiis knew how to use that to sell him, because he'd sell his own wife," joked Maradona.

"He saw Juve needed a striker and sold them one. I think these decisions should be made with the heart; I stayed with Napoli and Higuain joined Juventus. Times have changed. Before, I chose the shirt. Now, they choose the money," he added.

Higuain has netted 13 times in all competitions this season for Juventus and hit a record  36 goals for Napoli last season.
